Ana is a clarinet player who started learning music in a Concert band at school and wanting to play more seriously, combined her dedication and discipline and applied to join the Portuguese Army.
Playing professionally in the Military Band for 7 years, she gained experience in not only different venues but playing various styles of music to a high standard. Her main inspiration though came when doing her grades as an adult pupil, with a teacher that could show her a different approach to produce the sound out of her clarinet, and allowing her to interpret the pieces with more than just notes, but through expressing feelings in each musical phrase.
Ana enjoys teaching both sound producing and methodical study to her students, and sharing her passion for the clarinet.
When she is not teaching you can find her in the workshop at Dawkes Music repairing all instruments from piccolos to tubas.
Don't just take our word for it, here's what some of our students think... Happy players, happy us!
