Many thanks to all who attended our recent 'Fun Day' a couple of weekends ago. It was great to see so many of you and we really enjoyed the mix of playing, rhythm, and listening via the masterclass sessions. Here's what we got up to...
We kicked off the day with a masterclass, these are a great way for players to get experience performing in front of a crowd and to pick up tips and tricks from the visiting Pro.
A big thanks to those who volunteered to play in the masterclass, without them it wouldn't be possible. It can be nerve wracking to play in front of your fellow students, especially when you know you will be critiqued afterwards, but everybody played really well! Hopefully all in the audience (and those performing!) enjoyed the session and a big thanks to Jeremy Foster for coming along and making some great points for all to learn from.
After a little bit of nourishment (tea and cake!) it was great fun to get into the Samba rhythm workshop with visiting Pro Simon Davie. Simon successfully recreated the South American vibe in Maidenhead with a wide array of traditional Samba drums. This was a great exercise to test, develop and stretch our rhythmic feel. Everyone played fantastically and it just goest to show we all have a myriad of inherent rhythmic talents!
Finally, a big thanks goes to Rachel Riordan (our newest Teacher) for running the band session at the end of the day. There was a really broad mix of players and experience in the room and it was very rewarding for all to play along and really enjoy one of the main aspects of music making which is playing along with others.
Many thanks to all those who attended, if you were unable to come make sure you join us next time!
